Some great tennis but unfortunately “game over” for our enthusiastic Swedes. The international favourites continue to impress.
Unfortunately, all Swedish players are out in the second round of the Kungens Kanna & Drottningens Pris. We had high hopes for Albert Jansson, Näsbyparks TK, Emilio Zielkowski, Norrköping TK and Eldin Nokic, Åby TK, but unfortunately, after three tight sets and excellent fighting spirit, they came to the end of the road. In the doubles that began yesterday, some Swedish teams made it through to the second round.
We arrive today swiftly to the last sixteen, the vast majority of the seeded players remain.
Those who have impressed most so far on the boys side are Alexander Blockx (Belgium), William Jucha (France), Matthew William Donald (Czech Republic) and Constantinos Koshis (Cyprus).
On the girls side, top-ranking Russian Diana Shnaider (picture) and Erika Andreev stormed past Belgian Amelia Waligora and Barbora Palicova (Czech Republic). Two other exciting players meet each other in todays round, a hot match; Matilda Mutavdzik (United Kingdom) with take on Linda Fruhvirtova (Czech Republic).
Today is also the start of the consolation tournament, valuable match experience for our Swedish players.
Some hot tennis in freezing weather is expected; you are welcome in our hall.
Kungens Kanna & Drottningens Pris is organised by KLTK in collaboration with the Swedish Tennis Association
